Aguglia

L’Aguglia (Belone belone) ha un corpo molto allungato e compresso, il dorso è blu scuro e sfuma nell’azzurro sui fianchi che sono argentei; il ventre e di colore giallastro. La sua lunghezza può superare gli 80 cm e il Kg di peso. Le mascelle sono sottili e prominenti tanto da assomigliare ad un becco. L’Aguglia è un pesce pelagico che vive in alto mare e solo durante l’Estate si avvicina alla costa per deporre le uova.

In this short and interesting video you can observe the phase in which a female has just begun the transformation to become a male: in fact the electric blue color and the darker bands are starting to become evident, but have not yet covered the body as in the phase of complete transformation.
